Adjoa’s impact

  • One of Adjoa’s most recent successes is her work with the Biden-Harris Campaign as the National Advisor for Black Engagement. In this role, Adjoa:

    • Stood up the "Team Unity" initiative to meaningful engage and mobilize the historically and predominantly Black sororities/fraternities; held briefings with constituency groups and Black organizations; helped organize GOTV 30,000 person rally

    • Helped ensure the Biden-Harris ticket made history as the first to establish a specific policy agenda for the African diaspora

    • Curated specialized and targeted engagement events for Black men

    Her success in the role was catapulted by over 20 years of work in the political and policy arena. Over the course of her career, Adjoa has applied a unique blend of cultural competency, creativity, technical proficiency, and subject matter expertise to design and activate mission-critical solutions, and achieve the following results:

  • Spearheaded a mass community/volunteer mobilization effort that resulted in the codification of the nation’s first Office on African American Affairs (complete with grant making authority and an increased budget)

  • Organized several high-return fundraising campaigns, resulting in the election of multiple elected officials from underrepresented groups - including historic wins; with many being candidates’ largest grassroots donor effort

  • Convened legislators, agency directors, advocates, and youth to examine District of Columbia’s policies and practices concerning adjudicated youth in custody; resulted in policy recommendations and legislative proposals

  • Led public policy advocacy efforts resulting in the introduction of racial equity legislation in states ranging from California to the District of Columbia; authored and/or galvanized support for bills concerning: hair discrimination (CROWN Act), educational equity (approval of Black studies curriculum), maternal mortality, and equitable representation in DC’s public statues/venues

  • Defined agendas and assembled expert panels to help organize annual legislative conferences for national organizations

  • Developed and delivered leadership training for several institutions including CBCI and DNC; in the last year, trained and inspired over 300 next-generation operatives, advocates, and elected officials

  • Facilitated high-profile stakeholder engagement on behalf of multiple entities at the annual Essence Festival; effectively used the high-volume entertainment venue to expand the reach of the political brand

  • Enlisted to devise strategic plans to foster organizational change and culture shifts; helped companies implement crisis/reputation management and turnaround strategies to ensure sustainability and advancement

  • Helped develop a comprehensive engagement and mobilization strategy as a DNC consultant during the 2018 midterm election cycle; in conjunction with the director—realized an ambassador program with 2200 members.
